IASC PSEA Coordinators

Inter-Agency Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) Coordinators

The full-time independent inter-agency PSEA Coordinator role was endorsed by the Inter-agency Standing Committee (IASC) Principals in 2016 (“Global SOPs”) and reinforced in the 2018 IASC Plan for Accelerating PSEA in Humanitarian Response at Country Level (“IASC Acceleration Plan”).

The Inter-Agency PSEA Coordinators, under the overall supervision of (D)SRSG/Humanitarian Coordinator (HC)/Resident Coordinator (RC), coordinate and support the collective PSEA activities at the country level. The Inter-Agency PSEA Coordinators report directly to the (D)SRSG / Humanitarian Coordinator / Resident Coordinator and support the UN Country Teams / Humanitarian Country Teams. The role of the Inter-Agency PSEA Coordinators includes working on:

  • Support the PSEA In-Country Program
  • Coordinate the PSEA Network/taskforce
  • Strengthen PSEA within Organizations
  • Engage Stakeholders
  • Establish/Strengthen an inter-agency compliant mechanism
  • Victims / Survivor-Centered assistance
  • Promote Accountability, including Investigations
  • Promote Information sharing

Sexual exploitation and abuse represents a catastrophic failure of protection. It brings harm to those whom we are mandated to protect.

The Inter-Agency Standing Committee is working to scale up protection from sexual exploitation and abuse across humanitarian response efforts. This website and global dashboard has been developed and managed through the support of UNICEF. It is dedicated to providing technical support and resources to practitioners, and to tracking inter-agency, collective progress across countries with a humanitarian response.
