IASC Global PSEAH Workshop
Between 23 and 25 April 2024, the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) organised a Global Workshop on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment (PSEAH) in Brindisi, Italy.
Objectives
The workshop brought together IASC PSEAH Policy Advisors with field practitioners, including Inter Agency PSEA Coordinators, to exchange good practices, challenges, and how IASC policies, guidance, and tools are best adapted to field contexts.
To measure progress and monitor the implementation of the IASC PSEAH Strategy deliverables, the IASC had already convened a first workshop with the TAG (IASC Technical Advisory Group) members and inter-agency PSEA Coordinators in January 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya. Building on the 2023 workshop recommendations and outcomes, the 2024 Global workshop ensured once more that IASC policy is informed by practice, and harmonised guidance is provided in support of inter-agency PSEA Coordinators.
Participants
Participants included PSEA Coordinators (or acting) from 30 countries, more than 20 PSEAH experts from the IASC Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on PSEAH comprising 11 UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes, 7 Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and NGO consortia, the Red Cross/ Red Crescent movement, and 5 UN Secretariat entities, the UN Special Coordinator on Improving UN Response to SEA, representatives from the UN Victims’ Rights Advocate office as well as funding partners on the last day. The IASC Champion on PSEAH, WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain, participated virtually in a session, bringing her support to PSEA Coordinators and underlining her commitment to PSEAH.
