Thematic Expert Group on Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse

The Thematic Expert Group (TEG) supports the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) to deliver on its commitments on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and Sexual Harassment (SH), as part of its broader work on accountability and inclusion. This includes working to:

  • Support the implementation of PSEA and SH best practices and standards across the humanitarian community, including through the development and prioritization of collective PSEA and SH indicators;
  • Support Humanitarian Coordinators and Humanitarian Country Teams to accelerate results on PSEA;
  • Track and promote country-level progress on PSEA, including through promoting a community of practice to share knowledge and resources;
  • Promote a survivor-centered approach to PSEA, including through collaboration with relevant stakeholders to strengthen gender- and child-sensitive approaches to accountability and inclusion.

Sexual exploitation and abuse represents a catastrophic failure of protection. It brings harm to those whom we are mandated to protect.

The Inter-Agency Standing Committee is working to scale up protection from sexual exploitation and abuse across humanitarian response efforts. This website and global dashboard has been developed and managed through the support of UNICEF. It is dedicated to providing technical support and resources to practitioners, and to tracking inter-agency, collective progress across countries with a humanitarian response.
